Organisational Structure
Council – The Institute shall be governed by a Council with a President at the head thereof, assisted by a Deputy-President and two Vice-Presidents, elected in accordance with chapter 5 of the Constitution.
EXCO – The Executive Committee of the Institute, subject to certain provisions, holds authority over managing and administering the Institute’s and its subsidiaries’ affairs, including financial matters and exercising the Institute’s rights as a shareholder or member in those entities
IMESA President
Mr. Sibusiso Mjwara was elected as President during the 2022 IMESA conference held at the Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg and is currently serving a full term until November 2024. He leads the organization, supported by a Deputy-President and two Vice-Presidents, as per the Constitution. Following this term, IMESA will elect a new President for the subsequent term.
IMESA Executive Committee
In accordance with IMESA’s Constitution, members are elected to fill the following Executive Committee portfolios:
• The President
• The Deputy-President
• The Operations Vice-President
• The Technical Vice-President
• The Operations Directors (representing each of the active (6) Operations Portfolios as indicated in the By-laws on Operations Portfolios)
• The Technical Directors (representing each of the active (4) Technical Divisions described in the By-laws on Technical Divisions)
• A new president is elected every two years.
